Staying Safe in the Heat

Brothers and Sisters,

This time of the year, many of us are working in hot, humid conditions. It’s on all of us to make sure everyone gets home safe and sound.

Read on for some of the best ways you can stay safe in the heat.

  • Stay well-hydrated
  • Take breaks in the shade
  • When possible, wear a hat and light-colored clothing
  • Wear sunblock and reapply often
  • Keep an eye on fellow ironworkers

Heat exhaustion can come on quickly. Know the signs so you can act quickly in case someone needs help. Signs of heat exhaustion include: heavy sweating; weakness; cold, pale, and clammy skin; fast, weak pulse; nausea or vomiting; and/or fainting.

Thank you for doing your part.
