Standing Down and Speaking Out for Recovery

Ironworkers Local 7 members recently joined with the Massachusetts Building Trades Unions (MBTU) to focus on the importance of recovery services and support for workers. Members led a Stand Down at 10 World Trade Center in Boston, and a roundtable discussion with members of the U.S. Department of Labor and OSHA. Several members of the Local 7 Recovery Council spoke, including: 
  • Glenn Troy, Recovery Specialist, the Laborer’s LEAN program
  • Billy Vietze, Member of Ironworkers Local 7
  • Dave Donovan, Member of Ironworkers Local 7
  • Jay Frasier, Recovery, IBEW 103 
  • John Christian, Modern Assistance Program 

The union also hosted an important roundtable discussion with a variety of leaders and policymakers from the industry, including:  
  • Doug Parker, Assistant Secretary, Occupational Safety and Health Administration 
  • Taryn Williams, Assistant Secretary, Office of Disability Employment Policy 
  • Ali Khawar, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Employee Benefits Security Administration
  • John Towle: Deputy Chief of Staff, U.S. Department of Labor
