Massachusetts-based scholarship applications are now open!

Local 7 is committed to giving back to our communities and supporting the next generation through educational opportunities. In partnership with the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, our union is pleased to award scholarships to the hardworking high school seniors of Local 7 members.

If you are an active Local 7 member and a parent or legal guardian of a high school senior hoping to further their education, don’t miss out on these exciting scholarship opportunities!

Annual AFL-CIO Scholarship and Labor Education Program
The Massachusetts AFL-CIO has announced its 65th Annual AFL-CIO Scholarship and Labor Education Program which administers half a million dollars of scholarship awards on behalf of unions and labor councils throughout the state. Individual awards range from $500 to $16,000 and we encourage any Massachusetts high school senior whose parent or legal guardian is in good standing with Local 7 to apply today.

In order to be eligible, students must be a senior in high school and take the Labor History Exam. Students should register for the scholarship exam by Friday, December 16, 2022. Between February 6, 2023 – February 10, 2023, the scholarship exam will be administered at high schools across Massachusetts.

2023 Local 7 Memorial Scholarship
The 2023 Local 7 Memorial Scholarship awards three four-year and 16 one-year scholarships, for a potential total of $68,000, to seniors who successfully take the AFL-CIO exam.

In order to be eligible, the student’s parent or legal guardian must be a Local 7 member of good standing. In addition, students must submit a letter to the Local 7 Scholarship Committee stating their interest in taking the AFL-CIO Exam. Please note that winners are selected through an external process by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
